Some of you have asked me where I've been, what I've been doing, and why has this account been so quiet since my last journal in Sept 07.  The truth is, I haven't been quiet at all!!  Although this page has not seen much movement, behind the scenes I've continued to comment, check out new artists and marvel at some amazing art, and generally potter around DA like I always have. Over the last few months (on and off) a number of us here have been discussing what we perceive to be problems associated with the quality of "art" here on DA.  Over time, DA has prided itself on the sheer volume of submissions and members, always striving to be the biggest, most popular, etc, etc.  And that culture is embodied in many of the design aspects of the site, from the way popularity is measured (in pageviews and favourites) through to the constantly running submission ticker counting every single piece of crap uploaded!!
